Ueno: Where to Eat, What to Do and Where to Stay

Food · Things to do · Where to stay

Most of Ueno is inside one park. The Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Western Art, the National Museum of Nature and Science, the Metropolitan Art Museum, Ueno Zoo, Ueno Toshogu and Shinobazu Pond are all within Ueno Park, between 1 and about 15 minutes on foot from Ueno Station. Ameyoko, the market street, is beside the station on the Okachimachi side.

Sit-down food falls into three clusters: the Okachimachi side, around Shinobazu Pond, and in Ueno Park. For a hotel, pick the station first: the Keisei Skyliner reaches Keisei Ueno from Narita Airport in as little as 41 minutes, and the hotel pages list Keisei Ueno separately from JR Ueno.
