How We Choose

This page explains how content on this site is researched and judged.

Process

  1. Demand: topics are chosen based on what readers are actually searching for.
  2. Information research: existing information on a topic is researched.
  3. Modeling proven information structures: the way that information is organized follows structures that already work well elsewhere, rather than inventing new ones.
  4. Japanese Judgment: a personal judgment is added on top of the researched information.
  5. Affiliate only when relevant: an affiliate link is included only where it is relevant to the content, not by default.
  6. Attachment over time: the goal is a relationship with readers built over time, not a single visit.

Principles

  • Popular does not automatically mean "my choice."
  • Famous options may still be good choices.
  • Personal Judgment is clearly separated from factual Information.
  • Personal experience is never invented.
  • Affiliate commission does not decide rankings or recommendations.
  • Judgment is personal, not a claim about all Japanese people.
