Uji: Where to Eat, What to Do and Where to Stay

Food · Things to do · Where to stay

Uji is 17 minutes from Kyoto Station on the JR Nara Line Miyakoji Rapid, or on the Keihan Uji Line from Chushojima. Byodo-in, Taiho-an and the tea shops of Byodoin Omotesando are on one side of the Uji River; Uji Bridge, with Tsuen at its east end, leads to Keihan Uji Station, the Tale of Genji Museum and Ujigami Shrine. Tea houses here take last orders between 16:00 and 17:00.

Mimuroto-ji and Manpuku-ji are a station away, at Keihan Mimurodo and Obaku. Uji has very few hotels: one by JR Uji Station, so most visitors stay at Kyoto Station or in Nara, on the same JR line.
