Uji has very few hotels. The only one in town for which this page found an official site is Hotel Trend JR Uji Ekimae, about 3 minutes from the south exit of JR Uji Station; there are fewer than eight, so this list adds two bases on the same railway. From Kyoto Station the JR Nara Line Miyakoji Rapid reaches JR Uji in 17 minutes. From Nara, the same train runs to Kyoto in about 44 minutes and stops at Uji on the way.
At Kyoto Station, Hotel Granvia is inside the station building and three more hotels are 2 to 7 minutes on foot. In Nara, Hotel Nikko Nara is joined to the JR Nara Station west exit; Nara Hotel runs a free shuttle from the station. The last JR train from Uji to Kyoto on a weekday leaves at 23:47.
