Himeji Castle is about 20 minutes on foot from JR Himeji Station, up Otemae-dori. Its gate closes at 16:00, and since 1 March 2026 adults from outside Himeji pay ¥2,500, or ¥2,600 with Koko-en, the garden next door. Engyo-ji on Mt. Shosha is about 28 minutes by bus and then a ropeway.

Most hotels are at the station: about a minute away on the south side, or connected to it. The Sanyo Shinkansen takes about 30 minutes from Shin-Osaka, and JR takes 40 minutes from Sannomiya in Kobe.
