Good to know
Most Himeji hotels are at the station. The castle is about 20 minutes on foot from JR Himeji Station, and the Shinki buses to Otemon-mae and to the Mt. Shosha Ropeway leave from the bus terminal there. Hotel Nikko and the Toyoko Inn on the south side are about a minute from the station; Hotel Monterey is connected to it.
Trains: the Sanyo Shinkansen takes about 30 minutes from Shin-Osaka, and the JR Special Rapid about an hour from Osaka. From Kyoto the shinkansen takes 44 minutes; from Sannomiya in Kobe, JR takes 40 minutes.
