Kobe has four bases. Sannomiya and Motomachi put Kobe beef, Chinatown, Kitano and Ikuta Shrine within about 15 minutes on foot. The Meriken Park waterfront is next to the Port Tower. Kobe Station is 5 minutes from Harborland. Shin-Kobe is where the Shinkansen stops, and the ANA Crowne Plaza connects to the station directly.
From Shin-Kobe, Sannomiya is one subway stop, about 2 minutes. The two waterfront hotels, the Hotel Okura Kobe and the Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel, run shuttle buses from Sannomiya; both hotels' pages list the Shin-Kobe run (the Okura's on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays).
