Kawagoe: What to Do and Where to Stay

Food · Things to do · Where to stay

Kawagoe's sights are in its old town: the warehouse street, Toki no Kane and Kashiya Yokocho in one part, with Kitain, Honmaru Goten and Hikawa Shrine a little apart. Toki no Kane and Kitain are about 15 minutes on foot from Hon-Kawagoe Station. From Ikebukuro, the Tobu Tojo Line's Kawagoe Tokkyu reaches Kawagoe from 26 minutes; from Seibu-Shinjuku, the Limited Express Koedo reaches Hon-Kawagoe from 44 minutes.

Kawagoe has few places to stay; the where-to-stay page lists eight, mostly station hotels, with two hotels in Ikebukuro as the day-trip alternative. The Koedo Kawagoe Fireworks are on 21 November 2026, and the Kawagoe Tobu Hotel is closed on 14–15 November 2026.
