Hakuba: What to Do and Where to Stay

Food · Things to do · Where to stay

Hakuba Valley has ten ski resorts; Happo-one has the longest run (8,000 m) and the highest top (1,831 m). Tsugaike opens for skiing on 1 December 2026, and the other resorts had not published 2026–27 dates on 22 October. In green season the lifts carry walkers to Happo-ike pond (2,060 m), Iwatake's summit terrace and Tsugaike Nature Park.

For a hotel, choose the base first. The village tourism commission groups lodging into Happo, Iwatake, Goryu, Highland and other areas. Happo has the Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal, where the express bus from Nagano Station and the highway bus from Busta Shinjuku stop.
