Good to know
Pick the base by what you want to walk to. Around Kamakura Station, four stays are 2 to 10 minutes on foot from the station, and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu is about 10 minutes from the east exit. At Hase and Yuigahama you are on the Enoden near the Great Buddha and the beach. Shichirigahama and Enoshima sit further along the same line, and Ofuna is the station for the monorail to Enoshima.
Kamakura is about 1 hour from Tokyo and about 30 minutes from Yokohama, according to the Kamakura City Tourist Association, so a day trip also works. The sights close early: Kotoku-in at 17:00 (October to March) or 17:30, Kenchoji at 16:30, Engakuji at 16:30 or 16:00. The shrine's grounds and the Enoshima garden stay open until 20:00.
Check-in is 14:00 at Kamakura Park Hotel, 15:00 at most of the others, and 16:00 at Kamakura Hachimangu Hotel; check-out is 10:00 or 11:00. Kamakura Prince Hotel has parking-lot slope work, 8:30–17:00, until 28 February 2027, with possible construction noise.
