Good to know
Plan Akihabara as a walk around the Electric Town side of the station. Mandarake Complex gives 4 minutes on foot from the JR Electric Town Exit, Radio Kaikan, Animate and Super Potato are in the same streets, and Yodobashi-Akiba is directly connected to the station. Most of these shops open between 10:00 and 12:00 and close between 20:00 and 22:00; Yodobashi-Akiba runs 9:30–22:00.
On Sundays the main road, Chuo-dori, is closed to vehicles: 13:00–17:00 from October to March and 13:00–18:00 from April to September, and it can be cancelled in bad weather. The next Sunday is 25 October 2026.
Three places are away from the shopping streets. mAAch ecute (in the old Manseibashi Station arches) and Kanda Myojin are 4 to 7 minutes from the station, and Yushima Seido is in Bunkyo Ward, 1 to 2 minutes from Ochanomizu. Dates to plan around: 2k540 is closed on Wednesdays, mAAch ecute is closed on 9 November and from 31 December, and the Kanda Festival is a smaller one in 2026.
