Good to know

Everything here is within about 15 minutes on foot of Tokyo Station, and most of it is on the Marunouchi (west) side. KITTE is about 1 minute from the Marunouchi South Exit, and the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum and the Tokyo International Forum are each about 5 minutes on foot. Kokyo Gaien and Nijubashi are about 13 minutes on foot from the JR station; Nihonbashi is about 10 minutes the other way.

Time the palace side first. The Imperial Palace East Gardens close at 16:30 in October (last entry 16:00) and at 16:00 from November, and are shut on Mondays and Fridays. KITTE Garden stays open until 23:00 on weekdays and 22:00 at weekends, and Kokyo Gaien is lit from 15 minutes after sunset until 21:00, so evenings suit those two.

Dates that change what you can do: the East Gardens are closed on 23, 26 and 30 October and 24 November. Tokyo Station Gallery's Suikoden show ends 8 November and the next show opens 21 November. The Ichigokan's Fontanesi show runs to 24 January 2027. For Marunouchi's winter illumination dates, see the Marunouchi Street Park site.
