Izu: What to Do and Where to Stay

Food · Things to do · Where to stay

The Izu Peninsula is reached two ways by rail. Down the east coast, the JR Ito and Izukyu lines run through Ito, Izu Kogen and Kawazu to Shimoda, about 2 hours 30 minutes from Tokyo by Odoriko; in the centre, the Izuhakone Railway runs from Mishima to Shuzenji in about 33 minutes. Dogashima on the west coast is about 60 minutes by Tokai Bus from Shimoda or 70 from Shuzenji.

In Ito, Izu Kogen and Shimoda, the hotels on these pages are a short walk from the station or run a station shuttle. Shuzenji's ryokan are a short bus or taxi ride from the station, and the west coast hotels at Toi and Dogashima are on the Tokai Bus routes.
