Good to know
On Ishigaki the base decides the first hour of each day. The boats to Taketomi, Kohama, Kuroshima, Iriomote and the other outer islands leave from the Ishigaki Port terminal, and four hotels here are 1 to 6 minutes from it on foot: Miyahira (1–2 min), HOTEL East China Sea and Hotel Cucule (3 min each) and Vessel Hotel (about 6 min). The west-coast resorts are about 10 to 15 minutes from the terminal by car or taxi, and Kabira is about 30 minutes by taxi (¥4,500 from Ishigaki Seaside Hotel's page).
Parking and the airport run differ by base. Vessel Hotel has 38 free spaces and seven x seven 106; Art Hotel Ishigakijima has 161 free; Hotel Cucule charges ¥1,500 a night, Miyahira has 20 paid spaces, and HOTEL East China Sea has none. Fusaki Beach Resort runs a free airport shuttle for guests (about 35 minutes, timetable only, no reservations). The ANA InterContinental offers a paid shuttle taxi, and Ishigaki Seaside Hotel runs no shuttle at all.
From 1 February 2027 Okinawa Prefecture adds an accommodation tax of 2% of the room-only price per person per night, capped at ¥2,000. Ishigaki is one of six municipalities that also levy their own tax; where a municipality does, the prefecture splits the 2% into 0.8% prefectural and 1.2% municipal. Rates are not shown here because they change daily.

Arriving without a car
Fusaki runs a free shuttle from the airport for guests. Miyahira and Cucule are by the Bus Terminal where the airport route bus ends. Art Hotel Ishigakijima has a route-bus stop at its entrance (route 10, about 35 min from the airport).

The Kabira Bay side
Club Med is about 10 min by car from Kabira Bay. Ishigaki Seaside Hotel is in Kabira and about 30 min by taxi from the ferry terminal, so outer-island trips start with a long ride; it runs no shuttle.

Near the Ishigaki Port terminal in Misaki-cho. Miyahira is 1–2 minutes on foot, HOTEL East China Sea and Hotel Cucule 3 minutes, and Vessel Hotel about 6 minutes (600 m). The terminal serves Taketomi, Kohama, Kuroshima, Iriomote, Hatoma and Hateruma, according to HOTEL East China Sea's page and Anei Kanko's route list.

Do I need a car on Ishigaki?
Not for the ferry-terminal base. From the terminal area, route 9 (Kabira Resort line) reaches Beach Hotel Sunshine in about 15 minutes, Fusaki in about 20 minutes (¥360) and Ishigaki Seaside Hotel (¥900). Seaside's page lists six route 9 departures a day from the terminal and gives about 30 minutes by taxi at ¥4,500, so a car makes the north-west coast easier.
Is there an accommodation tax in Ishigaki?
Yes, from 1 February 2027. Okinawa's tax is 2% of the room-only price per person per night, capped at ¥2,000. The prefecture lists Ishigaki among six municipalities that also levy their own tax and collect the prefectural tax with it; in those places the 2% is split 0.8% prefectural (cap ¥800) and 1.2% municipal (cap ¥1,200). Ishigaki City's tax office is the contact for details.
When are the ANA InterContinental pools open?
The hotel's FAQ says the outdoor pools are open from the end of March to the end of October. Check the hotel before a winter stay.
