Waterfront shopping area · Mihama
A waterfront area on the west coast at Mihama with more than 130 shops for fashion and food. Its website runs a live sunset view camera.

- Chatan Gateway stop, served from Naha Airport by the TK05 Chatan direct shuttle, the LIM-A airport limousine (reservation required) and the KKB Chatan Liner, each ¥1,000. LEQU Okinawa Chatan, inside Depot Island, gives the walk from Chatan Gateway as 7 min.

A marine activity group listed by Chatan Town for diving, jet ski, wakeboarding, kayaking and fishing. Its own site lists parasailing, three banana-boat rides and a glass-bottom boat with no age limit.

A coast known as a diving and surf point, used for water sports all year. Restaurants along the shore look out over the sea.

9Nakagusuku Castle Ruins中城城跡
World Heritage castle ruins · Kitanakagusuku / Nakagusuku
Castle ruins listed as part of the World Heritage site Gusuku Sites and Related Properties of the Kingdom of Ryukyu, a national historic site and one of Japan's 100 Fine Castles.

- By car: expressway to Kitanakagusuku IC; free car park for about 50 cars. By bus: highway bus from Naha Airport to Kishaba, walk to the Kitanakagusuku Village Office stop and book a ride on the mobi app; or a bus from Naha Bus Terminal to AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom, then mobi.

The arena of the Ryukyu Golden Kings basketball team in Okinawa City. Arena tours run on 2–4 days a month without events, by advance booking; the basic plan is for groups of 5 to 9.

Good to know
Most of Chatan's sights sit together in Mihama: American Village, Depot Island with its boardwalk and Sunset Walk, Sunset Beach and Terme VILLA Chula-u are all on foot from each other. Araha Beach, in Araha Park, and the Sunabe and Miyagi coast, a diving and surf point, are the other two shores on this list.
From Naha Airport, route bus 120 runs to Kuwae, about 3 minutes on foot from American Village, for ¥900. Three airport buses (TK05, LIM-A and KKB) run to Chatan Gateway for ¥1,000 each; the LIM-A limousine needs a reservation. Nakagusuku Castle Ruins, AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom and Okinawa Suntory Arena are outside Chatan, in Kitanakagusuku and Okinawa City.
Dates to plan around: in 2026 both beaches allow swimming 9:00–17:00 in October. Sunset Beach stays open for swimming until 30 November; Araha Beach had not decided on November. At Chula-u, two pools open only on weekends and holidays in November and close for winter from 1 December.
