Good to know

Plan this coast by car or by bus, and by closing time. The sights run from Cape Zanpa in Yomitan in the south to Busena in Nago in the north. Cape Manzamo in the middle of Onna is open until 20:00 from March to October, but viewing stops at sunset. Last admission at the paid places falls between 16:00 and 17:30.

In Onna the cliffs and the sea are the draw: Cape Manzamo, Cape Maeda with the Blue Cave, and Nabee Beach. For the Blue Cave the cape's own site asks swimmers to take care at their own risk and to wear a life jacket or buoyancy aid, and it lists no tour operators. The Onna Village Tourism Association warns of rip currents and advises lifeguarded beaches or instructor-led tours. In Yomitan, Zakimi Castle, the Yachimun no Sato pottery workshops and Cape Zanpa fit into one half-day. Busena Marine Park and Nago Pineapple Park are in Nago, and Churaumi Aquarium is a longer day trip, about 2 hours by car from Naha Airport.

Bus routes: No. 120 from Naha Airport stops at Kurahau (Cape Maeda, then about 20 minutes on foot) and at Busena Resort Mae. Buses from Naha towards Nago stop in front of Ryukyu Mura. Zakimi is on Yomitan route bus No. 29 from Naha Bus Terminal. Zanpa's page gives free parking and no bus directions; the pineapple park's page gives driving directions only.
