Good to know
Fushimi has two halves. Fushimi Inari Taisha and the Mt. Inari path are free and have no closing gate, two stops from Kyoto Station on the JR Nara Line. The sake district around Chushojima, Fushimi-Momoyama and Momoyamagoryo-mae stations holds the Gekkeikan and Kizakura museums, the canal boat, Teradaya and Gokonomiya Shrine, and most of it closes between 16:00 and 17:00 (boats leave until 16:20). If you plan both in one day, the shrine is the one that can run late.
Daigo-ji is in Fushimi Ward too, but east of everything else, on the Tozai subway line. Tofuku-ji is on the list because it sits on the same JR Nara Line, about 3 minutes from Kyoto Station, but it is in Higashiyama Ward, not Fushimi Ward.
Dates to plan around: the canal boat runs until 6 December 2026 and then stops until mid-March. The Gekkeikan museum has shorter days on 26 October, 7 November and 10 and 20 November. Tofuku-ji's Hojo garden fee rises from ¥500 to ¥600 on 1 November, and its autumn period runs 14 November–6 December. Daigo-ji changes to winter hours (until 16:30) the day after the first Sunday in December.

Questions
How long does Fushimi Inari take, and how far up should I go?
Kyoto City gives the full mountain loop as about 4 km and about 2 hours, and its Kyoto Trail page puts the climb from the Senbon Torii to the summit (Ichinomine, 233 m) at about 1 hour 30 minutes. The Okusha Hohaisho prayer hall stands at the end of the Senbon Torii, and the Yotsutsuji crossing is about halfway up the approach path. The guide below, How Far Up Fushimi Inari, sets the three stops against your hours, start time and legs.
Is Fushimi Inari free, and can I go at night?
Kyoto City's listing shows it as free, with no closing gate and worship possible day and night. Prayer and reception run 8:30–16:30 and the amulet counter 8:00–18:00. None of the pages checked says that the mountain path is lit, so the hours of daylight are the limit on the mountain.
Do I need to book the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum?
No. The museum asks for an online booking, open from two weeks before the visit until 16:30 the day before, but walk-ins are accepted and may have to wait or be turned away when it is full. Entry for ages 20 and over is ¥600 with three tastings, paid cashless only, and anyone who is driving or cycling cannot taste.
Is the Fushimi canal boat running now?
The 2026 season runs 20 March–6 December. It is closed on Mondays except national holidays, but runs on Mondays in April, May, October and November. The fare is ¥1,900 for junior high age and over and ¥900 for elementary school and under, booked online only, and free seats can be boarded without a booking. The last departure is 16:20, or 15:40 from 25 November.
Can I go inside Fushimi Momoyama Castle?
No. The keep is a 1964 concrete replica from a former amusement park, and its inside is closed for seismic reasons, so only the exterior can be seen. Entry to the park is free, and the Kyoto City tourism project lists it as open 7:00–17:00.
