Yes, for a trip with kids, and for anyone holding a rainy afternoon in Osaka. Kaiyukan is built around one tank, the Pacific, where a whale shark swims with manta rays. You walk down around it from the top.
- Kids or rain: go. The route is mostly ramps, strollers roll through, and it’s all indoors.
- One day in Osaka, first time, no kids: save it for a later trip. The castle and Minami fill that day, and Kaiyukan sits out on the bay.
- A weekend or holiday: book a dated entry time ahead. Walk-up tickets can mean waiting for a later slot.
- Holding the Amazing Pass: it doesn’t cover Kaiyukan. It does cover the Ferris wheel and the Santa Maria boat next door.

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan Ticket on Klook
A dated Kaiyukan entry ticket settles your date before the day. Prices change by date, so compare yours with the aquarium's calendar.
Check the Kaiyukan ticket on Klook →Sold on Klook (Klook Travel Technology Limited), an online travel agency, as a dated Kaiyukan entry ticket. Kaiyukan's own price changes by date, and it sells its own dated e-ticket too. Before you pay, check on the listing: the date and entry time you get, how you go through the gate with it, and the refund terms.

First: the pass you already hold
The Osaka Amazing Pass costs ¥3,500 for one day and ¥5,000 for two. Kaiyukan isn’t on its list, so you buy aquarium admission separately, whatever pass you carry.
What the pass does cover stands right beside the aquarium. The Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel has a ¥1,000 regular fee. The Santa Maria day cruise is ¥1,800 for adults.
Those two come to ¥2,800, which is ¥700 short of the one-day pass. Tempozan alone won’t make the pass pay. Whether the rest of your day does is counted on the Amazing Pass page.
| At Tempozan | Regular adult fee | On the Amazing Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Kaiyukan | ¥2,800–¥3,500 by date (Oct–Nov 2026) | Not included |
| Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel | ¥1,000 | Included |
| Santa Maria Day Cruise | ¥1,800 | Included |
| Santa Maria Twilight Cruise | ¥2,300 | Included |

Who you’re with: kids make it an easy yes
Kaiyukan keeps about 620 species, around 30,000 animals in all. Past the fish, there are penguins, otters and jellyfish.
Children 2 and under get in free. Older kids’ prices also move with the date.

Most of the walk is ramps, so a stroller can stay with you. Only strollers of the shape Kaiyukan allows go inside, and there’s nowhere to park one once you’re in. The stroller park is at the entrance, left of the ticket window. If you’re keeping the stroller, tell the staff at the start and they’ll take you by elevator.
Wheelchairs are lent at the information desk beside the ticket window and at the 3rd-floor service counter of the entrance building. There’s a limited number.

Without kids, it comes down to time. Kaiyukan doesn’t publish a visit length. The guides that do say two to three hours, plus the ride out to the bay.
On a first trip with a single day in Osaka, those hours go to the castle and Minami instead. Osaka in one day lays that day out. Give the city a second day, or a wet one, and Kaiyukan has room.

The day and the hour
Kaiyukan sets each date’s price by demand, and its online calendar shows every date. Adults paid ¥2,800–¥3,500 on the October–November 2026 calendar. The cheaper dates are the ones Kaiyukan expects to be quieter.
Hours move by date as well. Most weekdays in October and November 2026 ran 10:30–20:00. Weekends opened at 9:30 or earlier. Last entry is an hour before closing.

On a busy day, a walk-up ticket may come with a later entry time than you asked for. You wait until it comes round.
From 17:00, the lights and music inside change to a night sea, with moonlight slanting into the tanks. The start time shifts with the season. Go in mid-afternoon and you’ll see the tanks both ways.

Where the rest of the day goes
The Ferris wheel is the one you walk toward from the station. It runs 10:00–21:00 on weekdays and 10:00–22:00 on weekends and holidays. Rides stop 15 minutes before closing.
The Santa Maria day cruise leaves every hour from 11:00 to 16:00. Be at the pier 15 minutes early. It doesn’t sail on December 31 or from January 12 to February 5.
The twilight cruise runs on weekends and holidays from April 18 through October. October’s departure is 17:15.
Your Kaiyukan ticket also works as a coupon at Tempozan Marketplace, the mall next door.
The west side of the aquarium faces Osaka Bay, and Kaiyukan calls it a sunset spot. After dark the far shore lights up.

Heading to Universal Studios? The Captain Line shuttle boat lands at Kaiyukan West Pier. The Amazing Pass lists it, and notes it doesn’t run on days USJ and Kaiyukan are closed. If USJ is the other half of your day, read the Express Pass page before you go.
On the day
Take the Osaka Metro Chuo Line to Osakako Station and leave by exit 1. It’s about five minutes on foot. Signs point to Tempozan Marketplace. Head straight for the big Ferris wheel.
Buses work too. City Bus 88 from Osaka Station and 60 from Namba both run to Tempozan Harbor Village, by the door. If you’re still choosing a base, where to stay in Osaka sorts the two sides of the city.
There’s also a limousine bus from Kansai Airport to Tempozan (Kaiyukan). Bags go in coin lockers at the entrance, Kaiyukan Hall or the museum shop. The Hall and shop lockers work without a ticket. Tempozan Marketplace and the space under the Ferris wheel have more.

Inside, the route starts at Japan Forest, a sunlit stream exhibit. It then winds down around the Pacific tank to the deep-sea tank called Japan Deep. In the Pacific tank, along with the whale shark, look for giant devil rays, reef mantas and schools of mackerel. The Aleutian Islands zone is closed for renovation as of October 30, 2026.
You can eat inside only at cafe R.O.F, on the 4th floor behind the Japan Deep tank. Some of its seats look into the tank. Before entry, the SEA SAW stand sells drinks and snacks.
Booking the ticket
If your hour is flexible, the window on the day works fine. If it isn’t, because it’s a weekend, a holiday or a day with a fixed train, book the entry time first. The gate time is then yours.
Kaiyukan’s own e-ticket does this. You pick a date and time, show the QR code on your phone or a printout, and walk straight to the gate. If plans move, change the date or time from My Page.
Klook sells a dated Kaiyukan entry ticket as well. It suits you if your other Osaka tickets already sit in a Klook account. Prices move by date on both, so check your date on each. If this is the day you’ve given to the castle instead, there’s nothing to book here.
