Buses and trams to Korakuen and the castle leave from the east (Korakuen-guchi) side.
For the garden and the castle, two hotels are on that side of the city. Hotel Excel Okayama is in front of the Shiroshita tram stop, about 5 minutes by tram from the station, and some upper-floor east rooms look over both. Okayama Plaza Hotel is about 10 minutes by bus, and the hotel gives Korakuen as about 3–5 minutes on foot.
To stay inside Kurashiki's Bikan quarter, Kurashiki Kokusai Hotel is next to the Ohara Museum and Ryokan Kurashiki is on the canal.
