Mie: Places to Visit

Food · Things to do · Where to stay

Most visits to Mie are to Ise Jingu. Its two main sanctuaries are Geku (Toyouke-daijingu), about 5 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Iseshi Station, and Naiku (Kotaijingu), reached by Mie Kotsu bus from Ujiyamada or Isuzugawa Station; the shrine asks visitors to go to Geku first. Toba, also on Kintetsu, has Toba Aquarium and Mikimoto Pearl Island a short walk from its station.

JR and Kintetsu trains run to Mie from Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka; Ise is around 1.5 to 2 hours by train from Nagoya. Iga Ueno, with its ninja exhibits, is on the Iga Railway line from Kintetsu Iga-Kambe.
