Good to know

Most of Nagoya's main sights are on a subway or Meitetsu line out of Nagoya Station or Sakae. Nagoya Castle is the obvious first stop, but its main keep is closed: the castle grounds, Hommaru Palace and the Nishinomaru Okura Museum are open, and the keep is planned to be rebuilt in wood. Atsuta Jingu, Osu Kannon and the Osu shopping district can each be reached by station exit or a short walk.

Two trips go out along other lines. The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park and LEGOLAND Japan share Kinjofuto Station on the Aonami Line, about 24 minutes from Nagoya Station. Ghibli Park is outside the city, reached by Linimo, and needs an advance reservation.

Dates to plan around: the Tokugawa Art Museum is closed 14 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, Nagoya Castle closes 29 December to 1 January, and Ghibli Park's January 2027 reservations open on 10 November 2026 at 14:00 Japan time. The castle's visitor page also announces a change in admission fees from 1 October 2026.
